Our founder Brenda and her husband are in their 70s and the rescue is their home….therefore we will not be allowing anyone other than volunteers into the house. Below are the guidelines for different scenarios.
*We will not be accepting donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, books, bedding, etc at this time as our Support Shop in Eccleshill is now open so please take them there
* Food donations can be dropped off at the rescue….please ring the doorbell and wait until a volunteer answers. If you want to talk to us please move to the gate after ringing the bell and wait.
If you have arranged for a cat/kittens to come to us, please ring the doorbell, move back to the gate….please leave the cat basket on the doorstep and a volunteer will answer and speak to you. All paperwork will be completed outside. If you need your basket back, the volunteer will take the cat inside and bring the basket back whilst you wait outside.
***We will only be admitting, Pregnant Cats, Kittens, Mums and Babies and Emergencies. Please don’t just turn up…message us through Facebook first***
This is tough for us…Wherever possible if you are feeding a stray …please keep doing this, unless the strays are sick, pregnant or injured, we will take them when we can .
Owner surrenders…please message us through Facebook with all the details…we will prioritise but most will have to go on a waiting list.
Homing by appointment only, you can view 2 cats in our outside pen, wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. You will pay the adoption fee online via the donate button on our web page and adoption papers will be sent online.
We are really trying hard to carry on as much as possible but we have to protect Brenda and her husband as well as the volunteers. Several of our volunteers have had to self isolate for various reasons although they are all well at the moment, so we have a small team who are working extra days and we need to look after them.
Please don’t just turn up at the rescue….you will not be allowed in.
Thank You for your continued support and understanding, the cats that we have are been cared for by a small team of dedicated volunteers. We look forward to a time when things improve for us all.
PLEASE STAY SAFE…..
KEEP THAT 2 METRE DISTANCE IF IT IS ESSENTIAL TO GO OUT
SELF ISOLATE IF YOU HAVE TO
LOOK AFTER FRIENDS AND FAMILY BY RINGING THEM
We will continue to keep this page updated and inform you of any changes we can make as things change
Thank You and Stay Safe
From All the Allerton Cat Rescue Team 😻😻😻😻
2019 was quite a year for all of us at Allerton Cat Rescue…. in fact the busiest year we have ever had.
There seems to be so many more Felines needing help and a huge increase in the amount of kittens being born.
We were out trapping on the streets nearly every day from the end of Spring and were so busy with pregnant mums and kittens that we had to close our doors at the end of the summer.
We are totally voluntarily run and our volunteers were really struggling at times , but we battled through still striving to help as many cats and kittens as we could by doing OUR BEST to help them despite huge vet bills and no funding.
***HOMED IN 2019***
925 Cats and Kittens , a 27% increase on the 727 homed in 2018.
509 Cats and 416 Kittens
Along with this our 2019 Vet Bill was a staggering £100,335 !!
of which we paid off £88,881
Any help with this bill is much appreciated, you will find ways to donate above , w cannot help them without your help thank you

Allerton Cat Rescue was founded over 40 years ago by Brenda Satterley, it was formerly based at the Prune Park Inn, Allerton and is now part of her home on Allerton Road. The rescue is run entirely by volunteers, fundraising and donations, the running costs are approximately £600 for food and litter and a vet bill of around £7000 per month.
